The End of Part 1

I haven't abandoned this blog. Just haven't had anything to say. However, my addiction to naija blog nation continues unchecked and unabated. Especially now that I have copious amounts of time on my hands.
What's new with me? Well, I've scaled every hurdle set before me. Steps 2 CK & CS, the residency application process & match day, and uncontrollable senioritis. I am off to Miami in June to start Part 2--- Residency.

Miami? Yeah, Miami. I was just as shocked too when I opened that envelope on Match Day. But I've gotten used to the idea of Miami. My only vex is that I can't afford to live on the beach just yet & that was the primary seduction. Unless I give up my dream of driving a fly luxury convertible... Nah!! I can't! I love my 96 toyota corolla to pieces but it's time for an upgrade. I deserve a brand new fly car.

My dream cars are:

The Lotus. I saw this in the parking lot at school one day and fell in love, all thoughts of my SLK flew out of my head immediately.

The SLK. Actually, always wanted the CLK but then my sister got it so I had to move up a class. Can't let my younger sister steal my shine abi.

However, when I looked at my stipend and the cost of living in Miami, I had to quickly find my level and let those two cars go... for now.

So my lesser priced options are:

Lexus IS250. Not a convertible or a coupe but oh so pretty.

Infinity G37. Saw it in a photo and decided to check it out.

And back to my old reliable Toyota. The toyota solara. I think it's so big looking though. Not as small & compact as I'd like but the price is very right.

Sigh.

New Week

I feel so accomplished this morning. My weekend was productive for once. I painted my chair and it is finally in my bedroom. The thing is, I underestimated the amount of paint I would need and went crazy with dilution. My first clue should have been that the original pattern was visible under the paint. I filed it down a bit with sandpaper which took off the color. Then, because I ran out of paint, I wasn't able to paint the seat and instead covered it with an old ankara skirt that I was planning to turn into pillows. I was very disappointed with the results, but it's now growing on me. I might leave the ankara like that or change it for another ankara I have. Lastly, I tried gluing the broken leg in place but alas, it didn't work. I guess I had better just buy a new leg for the chair. My next project is to figure out how to stick mirrors into an old painting. I also need to pick up my hall table from the office where it has been waiting for me all last week. I really wi...

Thank you LORD!

I passed my boards! I am so happy! To be honest, when I walked out of that exam, I was sure I was going to have to retake it. Allelujah (imagine Fountain of Praise singing that word on their song: I can't praise you enough. better yet, go hear it for yourself here .) i am so ecstatic!! Even better, I have the weekend off. I think i will be checking out the brand new heavies after all. oh yeah, third year is going fine. lots of work though, and i get so nervous about speaking in front of people. but i really adore my team. plus i admire my pgy-3 resident a lot, she is a firm and assertive woman. when i see her, i think to myself, i can do this! no room for shyness. in a minute. pgy=post graduate year.

Writing Life.

So, it is day 16 of this NaNoWriMo thing, and I am happy to report that I am still here. Writing away. Last night was a good night. I came to the page with great reluctance, confused and sleepy and distracted but once I got into the groove, I got into the groove. I even surprised myself. At the end of the night was at 26058, and I added 3000+ words. Are those words any good? I don't know. I will deal with that at the edit stage. I found this cool writing tool called Scrivener . Actually, I read about it on one of these NaNo pep talk letters. At first, I was like why would I need a tool for writing a novel, like I couldn't get it. But then I actually read about the features and I got it. What got me was the fact all my scattered word files  could be stored in one place. So I have been writing this novel separated into years instead of chapters, with the major characters telling each year from their view. I would put each year in their own file and then after I edited, woul...
